Boutique interior installation

Retail boutique · Stand-alone store · United Kingdom

Finished boutique wall with a dark blue frame, two lit vitrines and glass-topped display cases

Sector: Retail: a stand-alone boutique

Location: United Kingdom

CAMYS role: Installation partner (installation only): all furniture, fixtures and wall panelling

Time on site: 10 days

Handover: On time

The project

A stand-alone retail boutique in the United Kingdom, taken from an empty shell to a finished store. The interior combines figured wood veneer wall panelling, curved veneer columns, a dark blue feature wall with illuminated wall vitrines, glass-topped display cases on curved wood bases and lit veneer niches with floating shelves.

Empty store shell before fit-out: bare plasterboard wall with two openings and a protected floor

What we did

As installation partner, CAMYS installed on site all the furniture, fixtures and wall panelling, from the empty shell to the finished store:

• Wall panelling: large figured wood veneer panels, hung on a timber frame grid with aluminium rails.

• Curved veneer columns with recessed joints.

• Feature wall: a framed dark blue wall with two illuminated wall vitrines.

• Display cases and counters: glass-topped display cases on curved wood bases, and a wood drawer unit with curved ends.

• Lit niches and shelving: veneer-lined niches with floating shelves and integrated light lines.

• Side room: veneer walls with a lit niche and shelving, a low veneer cabinet and a counter with a pale top.

The challenge

• Matching figured veneer. The veneer panels carry a strong, mirrored grain pattern, so every panel had to sit in the right place and line up with its neighbour for the figure to read as one continuous surface.

• Curves and joints. Curved columns and panels meet with narrow recessed joints, which have to stay straight and even from floor to ceiling.

• Finished surfaces, glass and light. Veneer, glass display cases and lit vitrines had to be installed without damage on a finished floor.

• A short programme. The whole store, from empty shell to finished interior, was installed in 10 days.

How we solved it

• The frame grid was set out first, so each veneer panel could then be hung onto it in sequence.

• Floors and finished pieces were protected throughout installation.

• We installed all the furniture, fixtures and wall panelling over 10 days, so there was one installation team on site through to handover.

Result

A finished boutique where wood, glass and light read as one calm interior, handed over on time.
