The project
A fashion boutique in a new shopping mall in Abu Dhabi. The interior is soft and continuous: cream walls with rounded corners, LED light lines running along the ceiling and the shelves, built-in benches, glass-topped display counters, gold-framed illuminated wall displays and full-height mirror panels.
What we did
As installation partner, CAMYS installed on site all the furniture and fixtures in the store, and the wallcovering:
• Wallcovering on the walls, including the curved corners.
• Built-in benches and low cabinets along the perimeter, with long floating lit shelves above.
• Display counters: glass-topped counters with curved ends and banks of drawers.
• Lit wall displays: gold-framed illuminated shadow boxes and lit wall shelves.
• Mirror panels and portal frames set into the curved walls.
• Display stand and display table on the sales floor.
The challenge
• Continuous lines on curved walls. Wallcovering, light coves and shelves run around rounded corners, so seams, edges and shelf lines had to stay level and continuous from one wall to the next.
• Integrated lighting. LED lines are built into the shelves, wall displays and ceiling coves, so our installation had to be coordinated with the electrical contractor to leave an even, unbroken light.
• Finished surfaces in a short programme. Wallcovering, cream finishes, glass tops and mirrors had to be installed while other trades finished the space, all within 4 weeks on site.
• Working inside an open mall. The mall was already open while we worked, so installation ran alongside the other trades finishing the store.
How we solved it
• Levels and lines were checked before each wall and fixture went in, so shelves, counters and wallcovering met cleanly at every corner.
• Installation was coordinated with the electrical contractor so lit shelves and displays could be connected without rework.
• We installed the wallcovering and all the fixtures over 4 weeks, so there was one installation team on site through to handover.
Result
A calm, continuous boutique interior where walls, light and display read as one, handed over on time.
